Campervan guide
All important instructions for use, return and final cleaning on one page.
Before the trip
- Check your driver's license
- Plan your route
- Check weather conditions
- Reserve campsites if necessary
- Get to know the dimensions of the car
Using the campervan
A campervan is a taller and longer vehicle than a passenger car. Pay particular attention to low parking garages, canopies, bridges and tree branches. Drive slowly on narrow roads and leave more space than usual for the vehicle in front.
Remember to check the height of your car before your trip and keep it in mind throughout the journey.
The car has a rear view camera that makes parking and reversing easier.
The rear view camera is an aid, but the driver is always responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle. Also check the surroundings in the mirrors and, if necessary, get out of the car to check the situation before reversing.
Always obey speed limits.
Traveling by campervan is most comfortable at a leisurely pace. Remember to take into account weather conditions, road conditions, and possible reindeer and other animals, especially in Northern Finland.
Only park in permitted spaces.
Pay attention to the length and height of the car when parking. Before leaving, make sure that the vehicle does not block other traffic or emergency routes.
Heating and electricity
The campervan is equipped with a Truma heating system that keeps the car warm all year round.
The heater works as an air heater and also heats domestic water.
The heating works effectively even in cool conditions. We recommend keeping the heating on during cool nights to ensure a comfortable indoor temperature.
In winter, the heating must be on all the time to prevent water pipes and drains from freezing. We will provide additional instructions for winter use if necessary.
At campsites, the car can be connected to the electricity grid using an electrical cable.
The electrical connection allows you to use the car's 230 V sockets. The car's batteries are charged at the same time.
Always make sure the cord is securely attached before use.
Without an external power supply, the car's USB and 12 V sockets are powered.
The living area of the camper van has its own battery system, which supplies power to the lighting, water pump and other functions of the living area.
The batteries are charged while driving and by the solar panel. During long periods of standstill, it is worth monitoring the power consumption.
If necessary, the car's batteries can be charged while stationary by keeping the car running.
The solar panel on the roof of the car charges the battery for the living quarters.
A solar panel extends self-sufficiency and reduces the need for the electricity grid, but in cloudy weather the charging power may be lower than usual.
Fresh water and grey water
The clean water tank is filled with clean, drinkable water.
It is a good idea to replenish water as needed during your trip. Water consumption depends on the amount of showering, washing dishes, and cooking, among other things.
Water from the sink and shower collects in the grey water tank.
The tank must be emptied at designated emptying points. Emptying points can be found at many campsites and service points for motorhomes.
Using water in freezing conditions requires special care.
Follow winter season instructions and avoid leaving water in the system for long periods of time in severe frosts. If you are unsure about using water in winter, contact Valuerent before your trip.
Parking
In Finland, you can park your campervan according to normal traffic rules. However, be aware of the size of your car and make sure that parking does not block other traffic or emergency routes.
Camping
The campsites offer electricity, water, showers and service points. Everyman's rights do not automatically entitle you to camp everywhere in a camper van, so check local regulations before staying overnight.
Garbage and cleanliness
Keep your car clean throughout your trip. Empty the trash regularly and avoid storing food items in warm conditions for long periods of time.
Returning the campervan
- Return the car at the agreed time.
- Return the car with a full tank of gas.
- Empty the toilet cassette before returning the car.
- Empty the grey water tank
- Check that no personal belongings are left in the car.
- The car will be inspected upon return.
Final cleaning service
If you have purchased final cleaning service As an additional service, you can return the car without emptying the toilet cassette and grey water tank. Valuerent will take care of these steps for you.
Final cleaning before return
- Dishes washed
- Garbage removed
- Refrigerator emptied
- Personal belongings removed
- Interior in normal, clean condition
- Any stains or damage reported
Final cleaning service
If you have purchased the final cleaning service as an additional service, you do not need to clean the car before returning it.
The service covers dirt caused by normal use of the car and the usual final cleaning.
However, the final cleaning service does not cover exceptional soiling, such as:
- upholstery needs washing
- strong stains
- extra cleaning needs caused by pets
- cleaning measures caused by smoking
- other cleaning needs that deviate from normal use
More information
The customer is not normally responsible for washing the exterior of the car. If the car is exceptionally dirty, for example after driving on muddy roads, we ask that you remove the worst dirt before returning it.
Do you need help?
We recommend that you contact us as soon as possible if you notice a defect or damage to your car, or if you need advice on matters related to the use of your car.
Our goal is to make your trip as easy and carefree as possible.Useful links
